LIMITED EDITION OF 3 WATCHES
Derrick Gaz is a full-scale invention: a watch at the crossroads of high precision, the art of watchmaking, and the tradition of the great automaton. It is based on a careful observation of the traditional gas extraction systems of the nineteenth century. The gas mast rises majestically on the left side of the clock. Made from Grade 5 Titanium, this skeletonized structure is a perfect reproduction in every detail of the booms dedicated to underground exploration. The drill rig achieves an outstanding technical feat, turning continuously and completing one full revolution per minute. Thus, the gas begins its journey along the pipeline symbolized by the tourbillon bridge.
The gas pipeline goes to the valve stem. This is what controls the fuel flow in a real-life gas grid. With the same desire for consistency, this handle is directly tied to movement. It rotates continuously (four revolutions per minute) as if Derrick Gas is regulating the energy supply of the clock.
The pipeline continues towards a white dial: the gas mast's manometer serves as the Power Reserve indicator for Derrick Gas. Everything on it – down to the smallest details, including the shape, type, proportions and design of the hand – is a faithful replica of real manometers found in gas mains.
The journey naturally ends at 3 o'clock, when the gas is stored in a tank made entirely of polished 316L steel.
